Doha, October 13 (QNA) -Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar (VCUQatar) Atrium & Gallery announced here on Saturday the opening of ”The UP Factory’ Gallery Exhibition by renowned Dutch design firm Droog, on Monday, 15 October at 6pm.
The event due to run until November 15, 2012, is free and open to the public – please share with all your Doha-based friends.
A lecture entitled Crossing Boundaries Lecture Series” will be delivered at 6 PM while The UP Factory Exhibition Opening: 7 PM.
As part of the Crossing Boundaries Lecture Series, VCUQatar presents a lecture by renowned Dutch curator and author Renny Ramakers, and exhibition opening by Droog Design. This event is open to the public and no reservations are required.
Co-founder and director of Droog, Renny Ramakers initiates projects, curates design exhibitions, and lectures worldwide. Ramakers focuses on establishing new collaborations and developing new tools and scenarios grounded by societal relevance, but always with a twist. She believes conceptual thinking with the focus on a different perspective can not only solve problems, but also open up new possibilities.
As curator, Ramakers creates highly interactive design festivals around the world, establishing new collaborations and experiences inspired by the location. In 2012, Renny Ramakers was named one of the “150 Women Who Shake the World” by Newsweek.
Part of VCUQatar s Crossing Boundaries Lecture Series 2012/2013 reflects the cross-disciplinary nature of the featured speakers who are representatives of excellence in design thinking. Each speaker will present a paradigm of design thinking that seeks to evolve solutions to problems in innovative, creative ways.(QNA)
