Muscat: The Ministry of Labour today held a ceremony at Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre to mark the graduation of the 9th batch of students from vocational colleges in the Governorate of Muscat. As many as 1,212 students completed the requirements for graduation in different vocational and technical specializations.
According to Oman News Agency, the ceremony was held under the auspices of Dr. Abdullah bin Ali Al Shibli, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Higher Education, and attended by officials, academics, and parents of graduates. The ceremony caps up a march of resourcefulness and embodies the keenness of the Ministry of Labour to empower young national talents and enhance the status of vocational education as one of the basic tracks that support the labour market and enhance the national economy, in line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.
In a speech on the occasion, Eng. Khalid bin Mohammed Al Hadhrami, Director of the Vocational College in A'Seeb, stated that vocational education has become a solid foundation for the process of national development. It represents a close link between training and production and a bridge between learning and the reality of work/jobs. Al Hadrami added that the celebration features the accomplishments of the education and vocational training system and highlights its role in grooming a generation of qualified national cadres who possess the practical and technical skills required by the labour market.
The Ministry of Labour is keen on updating training programmes and upgrading them by introducing modern technologies and advanced teaching methods in a manner that consolidates partnerships with public and private sector institutions and enables graduates to obtain quality jobs or establish their own projects.
